Story of hope- Florence and the twins

As a charity we primarily support children with schooling and their extended families with education and skills training programmes. But we specifically have a "Befriend a granny" scheme for reasons like this. This week we were informed that the mother of these newly born babies died at the age of 28 years old. Having just given birth to twins, the twins were only 6 days old when she passed away.

The babies father will not look after them, so they were left to the care of their grandmother, Florence who is 60 yrs old. Florence is retired and didn’t have any finances to support the twins. She was unable to buy any of the basic essentials needed- clothing, nappies, milk etc and was really struggling to raise these little ones.

This sad story was posted onto our social media page and within hours a sponsor came forward to support a grandmother through TFCM. Florence was allocated to the new sponsor immediately and will now receive ongoing financial support. Not only that, Florence is now welcomed into TFCM’s extended family, and will herself receive support from our TFCM partners and the community around her.
